- MSP – Minority Science Programs (MSP) is an orchestrated effort by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the School to increase the number of US underrepresented groups in biomedical research careers.
- UC LEADS – The University of California Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees (UC LEADS) program at UC Irvine offers educationally or economically disadvantaged sophomore students (or juniors planning on staying a complete fifth year) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics programs an opportunity to begin their research training at the very beginning of their junior year.
- SURF – UC Irvine’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program offers undergraduate and master’s diversity students an opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors on research projects and provides an intense course of graduate preparation workshops.
- SURP – The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is a research fellowship for UCI undergraduate students. It is aimed at students with some prior research experience who plan to continue an intensive, faculty mentored research experience over the summer.

- NIH F30 – A pre-doctoral fellowship sponsored by the NIH specifically for dual degree students (MD/PhD)
- GRFP – The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States.
- HHMI Gilliam Fellowship – Preparing science leaders through paired awards to graduate students and their thesis advisers who, together, are committed to advancing equity and inclusion in science. Fellowship provides up to three years of funding, professional development, and community.

- FLARE – Future Leaders Advancing Research in Endocrinology. An NIH funded professional development fellowship from the Endocrine Society. Postdocs can also apply.

NIH F32 – The purpose of the Kirschstein-NRSA postdoctoral fellowship is to enhance the research training of promising postdoctoral candidates who have the potential to become productive, independent investigators in scientific health-related research fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers.
