Inflammation in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of infertility in women of childbearing age. Women with PCOS exhibit chronic inflammation that correlates with disease markers and metabolic dysfunction. However, no one knows how inflammation is contributing to the development of PCOS. In the Nicholas lab, we will discover inflammatory mediators critical for PCOS clinical outcomes and metabolic dysfunction. Our long-term goal is to identify key mechanism of inflammation in human PCOS that will pave the way for testing anti-inflammatory therapies.
